Under this memorandum, an educational scholarships will be offered to children of deceased soldiers.

Every year, many brave martyrs lay their lives for the country. It is important to give recognition to the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army and martyrs. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “A Nation that does not honour their heroes will not long endure.”

Although the void of losing the parents cannot be fulfilled, but to help the children of the deceased soldier, The Indian Army and Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana.

Under this memorandum, both the parties will offer educational scholarships to children of deceased soldiers.

A Noble Initiative

This noble initiative will assist the Indian Army in extending its reach to support the education of the children of its deceased soldiers in a significant manner. The educational scholarship will be provided to 100 children of the deceased soldiers of Indian Army every year.

There are few educational scholarship schemes for children of army personnel. But all of them come with eligibility criteria, which state that children of serving army personnel are eligible for applying.

Lately, Government of India started a scholarship scheme to children of ex-army men under the Prime Minister Scholarship scheme.

The Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust will support and help the children of soldiers categorised as physical causalities, who die in harness and are not covered by any other welfare schemes for educational purpose.

Continuous Support

Under the memorandum of understanding signed, a special preference will be given to primary class children and girl children. Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust will be ensuring a continuous support for these children. They will render financial support to these students up to class 12.
