- How to Motivate Your Franchisees to Ensure a Strong Franchise Network
A franchisor hands out his/her brand to prospective franchisee – someone who is completely unknown to them. You cannot expect fullest dedication from someone who is unknown to you is not a very good idea until and unless you extend help to them in the first place. This is how a franchisor-franchisee relationship nurtures – motivating each other to achieve each others’ aims.
To motivate your franchisees so that they keep doing great with your business idea, it is essential for franchisors to give a regular push so that you can build a strong franchisee network. Here are some of the points that can help you in motivating your franchisees on a time-to-time basis.
Prepare a Development Plan for them
When any businessman decides to enter entrepreneurship, he/she comes with an idea that is based on his/her unique vision. A franchisor is nothing but the same businessman, who has just taken a route (franchising) that helps in expanding his/her can reach more efficiently. Franchisees are completely new to the company’s management and hence he/she should have given a development plan so that he/she knows how to achieve the company’s goals. In your leadership, your franchisee can do exactly what you want them to do. Therefore, one of the biggest motivations for them could be a development plan that can help them grow with the franchise.
Giving them Short Term Goals instead of Bigger Ones
As you give them a development plan that suggests ways to achieve their goals, you should also consider the fact that the franchisee has to bear with the load of reputation, recognition and sales target of the brand. He/she has a long term goal to help the franchisor in expanding reach of their brand, which is quite a daunting task in itself. With franchisor setting short-term goals for franchisees, franchisors and franchisees both can help each other in achieving each others’ goals. Short-term goals are easier to achieve and less daunting and pressurizing, thereby making it more motivating to work.
Welcome them with Mentor System
A mentor system could be an effective way to keep your franchisees motivated to work better. Being a mentor, you can advise your franchisees to help them grow with your network. As a mentor, you can help franchisees to feel less-pressurized as you can tell them where they went wrong and what can help them do better. This also extends more support to the franchisees, making the franchisee-franchisor relationship more harmonious. This way, franchisees would know how to keep themselves motivated.
Rewards and Recognition can motivate them further
With continuous support and guidance of the franchisors, it is easier to motivate franchisees. Another way in which you can fill them up with enthusiasm to do better is to entice them with rewards and recognition. As they say, ‘Competition breeds commitment’, bringing the zing of competition and rewarding amongst the franchisees via network-wide or regional competitions or offering prizes on achieving targets can also add up in the motivation levels of franchisees. By offering such rewards, you give the franchisees and their staff another reason to work efficiently, and ultimately helping your business to grow.
