- HPCL and chargeMOD Join Forces to Boost India’s EV Charging Ecosystem
Energy technology start-up chargeMOD, a leading creator in electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, has formed a strategic alliance with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. This agreement will allow EV drivers to easily access all HPCL charging stations in India via chargeMOD's app.
The integration of HPCL's network with chargeMOD's platform enables users to simply identify and utilise HPCL's EV charging stations without the need for additional accounts or applications. The alliance makes use of Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) technology to enable seamless roaming between networks, providing EV drivers with a convenient and unified experience.
In a significant move to enhance India’s EV charging infrastructure, chargeMOD will install over 100 fast chargers at certain HPCL facilities, increasing access to high-speed charging choices that shorten charging periods and make EV travel more viable.
“With OCPI roaming and fast charger deployment, we aim to make EV charging quick and user-friendly for all,” said M. Ramanunni, Co-Founder and CEO of chargeMOD.
HPCL, a significant stakeholder in India's EV charging ecosystem, has already installed over 4,000 charging stations around the country. HPCL's expanded network, which will include more than 2,100 fast chargers on major roads and in metropolitan areas by March 2025, intends to reduce EV range anxiety and promote the country's shift towards sustainable transportation options.
