The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has launched SHREYAS, Scheme for Higher Education Youth for Apprenticeship and Skills. The portal has been introduced in collaboration with the National Skill Ministry and Labour and Employment Ministry.
SHREYAS is inviting applications from students from non-technical courses like BA, BSc. BCom and others. After the students register themselves at the portal, they will get connected with apprenticeship programmes and recruiters.
Prakash Javadekar, Human Resource Development Minister of India, said, "The purpose of education is not just to bring out a good human from the system but to bring out a good human with skills."
The portal is aimed at offering internships to students pursuing general courses, connect recruiters and graduates.
"The education with skills is the need of the hour and the SHREYAS will be a major effort in this direction to make our degree students more skilled, capable, employable and aligned to the needs of our economy so that they contribute to country's progress and also obtain gainful employment," Javadekar added.
