In an exclusive interview with Mr. Nitin Gachhayat, Co-Founder, Drishtee, where she shares hsi business models of franchising and the organisation was lucky in fiinding the right partners for collaboration.
Being in the industry for more than 17 years how has been your journey so far?
17 years has been more of a learning experience. We started in the year 2000 with a mindset that with the help of technology, a lot many problems can be tackled in the Education sector. But slowly, we had to unlearn things. It wasn’t an easy task to solve the problem with the top down approach. It was a journey where we had to learn about Rural India. Understanding the needs and then developing solutions was our primary concern. Similarly, in the field of Education, a lot of initiatives have been done to relocate people from rural to urban areas.
Kindly give us the strategy of diversification in your business.
When we started off in 2000, we started off with a franchise based model like micro franchising, identifying small entrepreneurs in the rural areas. Starting from financial inclusion to education, everything was dependent on a franchise based model.
Talking about Drishtee, how is this platform different from other institutions.
The USP of Drishtee happens to be the understanding of communities and having a deep presence in deep remote villages.
Tell us your collaborations with other entities.
Drishtee is a small social organization and doing everything on your own becomes difficult. That is the reason that we have been quite lucky in getting right partners. We have been able to collaboratively develop solutions for rural India.
Talking about Edupreneurship, what are your plans to take Education further in the long run?
There was a lot of focus on Education and Skill development which came in and we got involved in some of the Government programs. We came into a conclusion that the way these programs are structured, having big centres in urban areas is not a sustainable model. We again moved back to our core strength of Micro Franchising and identified franchisees in the rural areas who can deliver Education and skilling services and we at the backend, providing them capacity building, content and ensuring that quality is delivered.
