Tata group hospitality arm Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has opened its first hotel 'Taj Theog Resort & Spa' in Shimla, foraying into Himachal Pradesh. The design and architecture of this hotel echoes colonial charm reminiscent of hill station appeal.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), IHCL, said, "With this new addition, the company has expanded its resort portfolio which is the largest in India."
"The state has great tourism potential and we look forward to expanding our footprint to showcase the pristine beauty of this region," he added.
Founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1899, IHCL is an Indian hospitality company and a subsidiary of the Tata Group conglomerate. It manages a portfolio of hotels, resorts, jungle safaris, palaces, spas and in-flight catering services. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the company has over 160 hotels in 80 locations and 12 countries, with more than 20,000 rooms and 25,000 employees.
