- IIT-Madras initiates alliance to turn Chennai into ‘Digital Wellbeing Capital’
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) on Wednesday initiated a ‘Digital Wellbeing Alliance’ with the objective of making Chennai a global ‘Digital Wellbeing Capital’.
Inaugurated by Ram D Sriram, a renowned Aritificial Intelligence and healthcare expert, the alliance is intended to improve quality of life for healthcare providers and seekers; and to leverage India’s strength to enhance global health and wellness care using digital technologies, according to a press release.
The Alliance has its own blockchain, which is a decentralised platform that enables secure, fast and transparent exchange and usage of medical data with smart contracts, the institute said.
The Institute will use its expertise in Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, IoT and Motion Capture Technology to work for the wellbeing of the community, specifically the young workforce and weaker sections of the Society, the release added. The stakeholders of the alliance includes others IITs in the country, health technology companies, medical device makers, digital health players, medical institutions, corporate firms, Government bodies such as NITI Aayog and Certifying/Regulating Agencies.
