A team of students of the Indian Institutes of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has developed an AI-powered drone to help people affected by natural disasters. This AI-powered drone provides precise information about the people's whereabouts when a disaster strikes emerged.
The students created this project for a competition held by Microsoft's Academia Accelerator, theme being, "Codefundo++ National Challenge". In this competition, the students had to build state of the art technology to predict or manage natural disasters better.
IIT Madras students secured the top position in this challenge. They were awarded Rs 5 lakh.
Chitra Sood, Director Business Management, Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd, said, "India has immense potential to be a hub of development for AI-driven solutions.
