- IKEA Announces Opening a Small City Store In Mumbai
Global home furnishings retailer IKEA today announced that it is going to open its first city store in Mumbai. This would be more convenient for its customers in the city. IKEA shared the plan of opening a small store in Mumbai by the end of 2021. The company already has two big blue Boxes (stores) in Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Their first store opened in India was in Hyderabad, followed by the Navi Mumbai store. Both worked very well and became a famous shopping place for customers. The company is also planning to open another store in Bengaluru next year. IKEA also introduced their shopping app entering the e-commerce race as a part of their single-channel growth.ss
IKEA typically opens very big stores with a unique maze-like design, the size of which lies between 400,000 to 500,000 square feet. The company is currently working in over 52 countries with its same big store design.
“In line with IKEA’s long-term commitment to Maharashtra and India, the Worli (a place in Mumbai) store will be the first of its kind in India, following cities such as Paris, Moscow and Shanghai,” as stated by the company.
This Mumbai city store will have an area of 50,000 to 100,000 square feet. This store will include a restaurant and personal shopper in it. From a vast spectrum of over 6000 products, this store will offer 2,200 for takeaway and the rest will be delivered to the customer’s doorstep.

As part of our omnichannel approach, we will continue to introduce new meeting points to meet new customer expectations, always with the customers’ needs and dreams in mind."
“IKEA has the ambition to meet 200 million people in India over the next few years with an omnichannel approach. This store will be the third physical store IKEA opens in India," he said in a statement.
