What all key points do you look at before conducting audits in franchisee’s location?
Maple bear school’s audit process is an annual feature each year in everybranch. Maple Bear audit is a process followed globally. In India the audit is conducted towards the end of the academic session in a detailed manner covering various aspects like infrastructure, condition of the classroom materials, safety, hygiene, implementation of curriculum, participation in various trainings organised, promotional plans etc.
What kind of technology do you use for conducting audits?
We use the traditional process through personal visit by the maple bear team. We have also encouraged self audit as well.
What type of audits do you conduct on regular basis? Does it also involve mystery visits at franchisee’s premises, monthly running cost of the unit covering expenses and whether the franchisee is able to maintain standards or not?
As mentioned above, all aspects are covered in the audit. Each year allMaple Bear schools are audited. These audits close with a time line for improvement if gaps have been identified, but if the gaps are alarming, based on these audits franchisees have been terminated as well. Each audited school report is sent to our HQ in Canada as well to ensure strict compliances are followed.
Do you think pre-school industry has now come to a saturation point? Does franchising in pre- school business will help edupreneurs to tackle with the problem?
I believe franchising system certainly will assist the edupreneurs if the brand has a sound process system at all levels including operational, academic, overall maintaining the quality of school. This enables 360 degrees of quality assurance, especially to the parents, which is what maple bear experience has been.
How is training and support important for a franchise brand to grow?
It is absolutely imperative, and non negotiable also in the interest of the brand and overall quality. Most importantly for the child who is central to preschool education.
What are the major growth drivers of your brand?
Our major growth drivers have been training and support which is provided consistently and continuously in a systematic and organized manner. We believe to ensure our brand is not jeopardised, which being a global brand present in many parts of the world cannot risk not having a stringent monitoring and supporting system with very clear and defined goals and outcomes.
