Entrepreneur India held an Edtech x Indian Education Congress & Awards 2024 on February 7. The event witnessed the participation of over 350 educationists and thought leaders who the insights into the world of education.
The event started on 10.25 am with the panel discussion on Building A Symbiotic Relationship Between K-12 Education & Technology where panellists including Vinay Maheshwari, Executive Chairman, New York Academy, Amrita Burman, Director, Sunbeam Schools, and Sharani Ponguru, Director, The Narayana Group discussed the key trends of changing education delivery and the investment opportunities in today’s world.
Speaking at the event, Amrita Burman said, “The way education has changed through technology, If you do not blend with hybrid model, you are out of the business.”
Meanwhile, Sharani Ponguru, Director, The Narayana Group said, “The NEP has opened more doors of initiatives in the education sector.”

RECREATING TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTED LEARNING –THE FUTURE OF HIGHER EDUCATION
The panel which was moderated by Ravneet Pawha, VP & CEO, Deakin University, Australia, held conversation around various topics including the benefits emerging from increasing the user base for online education, Re-skilling and online certification courses occupy a significant part of online education with a mammoth share. Should universities certify such courses!, Does technology aided learning enhance the much-talked about 21st century skills such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and life-long learning among students., Dire need of inculcating practical skills for increasing employability- Can delivery of lectures through AR or VR tools and taking students on virtual industry trips increase applicability of theoretical principal among students.
Prof Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education said, “Most school who do not know how to use technology will not be successful.”
Sudhir Barai, Director, BITS Pilani said that most school who do not know how to use technology will not be successful. “We have to be faster to grow in the education industry,” he added.
THE INTERSECTION: HYBRID NATURE OF THE SCHOOL EDUCATION SYSTEM
Strategies and case studies for a better and more effective digital transformation in education and How to tackle gaps in connectivity and the availability of digital equipment in schools, how to strengthen teachers’ digital pedagogy, paving the way for closer dialogue and addressing how to digitise best in an inclusive manner, and how coaching, including technology-enabled and AI-enhanced methods, can create potent support and move the needle on student outcomes in and out of the academic setting were the centre of the conversation during the panel discussion.
Rishabh Khanna, Founder & CEO, Suraasa said that we have to move from What and How to What, How, amd Why to become a successful teacher.
While, Harkunwar Singh, Co-Founder and CEO, Novatr suggested that online learning was the only way to access quality education.
Anvita Gupta, Head of School, Sancta Maria International School said, “After the COVID-19 pandemc, the schools are now in the state of using the technology for children. However, we are still trying to overcome all the difficulties to go hybrid: Anvita Gupta, Head of School, Sancta Maria International School.”
There was also a session on early childhood where the thought leaders discussed about the following issues in the education sector are digital tools & online systems creating efficiency in early childhood education, What kind of collaborations are required to have a fine balance between offline and online mode of learning in early education, Is the ecosystem ready to cater to the demand-supply gap.
We are getting into the world where people will have more than just one career, Ruchira Shukla, South Asia Regional Lead for Disruptive Technology Investments at the IFC, World Bank Group said.
Amol Arora, Vice Chairman & Managing Director SHEMROCK said, “My goal is to make children ready for the future. I don't just want to train their brain but heart too, and technology will not do that.”
Meanwhile Shalini Jaiswal, Director and COO, Maple Bear South Asia said that technology plays an important part in education by helping teachers plan lessons.
Addressing the gathering at the 13th edition of Indian Education Congress & Awards, Biswajit Saha, Director, CBSE said, “In the next 20 to 30 years, the demographic potential in India will be at the highest peak.”
