Participants were tasked with addressing real-time challenges in Blockchain, Cyber Security, and Smart Automation through their coding skill and innovative thinking, at Amity University’s Noida campus.

Seven teams were declared winners at the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2023), a 36-hour non-stop Software Product Development event initiated by the Ministry of Education that successfully concluded at Amity University’s Noida campus.

The winning teams were given cash prizes of INR 1 lakh each along with trophies for their innovative projects. Participants were tasked with addressing real-time challenges in Blockchain, Cyber Security, and Smart Automation through their coding skill and innovative thinking.

While felicitating the winners, Dr Navin Kumar Singh, Director General, National Critical Information, Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), said, “I would like to congratulate and express my gratitude to Amity University for organizing such a valuable event which aimed at providing students, a platform to address real-life issues that impact our daily lives. All participating teams are already winners, including those who did not win the competition. Students should not get disheartened, since the spirit of participation is more important than winning.”

Seven teams from various institutions including Team Defendify from Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trusts Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, Team Donut from Easwari Engineering College, Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, Team Overloaded from Pandhi Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology & Manufacturing, Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh, Team Uncoder from India Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Kanchipuram Tamil Nadu, Team Monolith from Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology,  Greater Noida, Team LIVE-WIRE from Maharaja Surajmal Institute Delhi, Team Resque Squad from Velammal Engineering College Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, were declared the winners.

‘User Protection in the Hands of Coders

Guest of honour, Dr Saibal K Pal, Scientist G, Director, Directorate of IT & Cyber Security & CISO at Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), said, “The responsibility of cybersecurity lies in the hands of coders, who need to protect not only hardware but also software, hacking systems, applications, and data breaches. Above all, they are responsible for protecting the user. New technologies and AI will play a significant role in this endeavour. Quantum computing also plays a vital role and can change the algorithms of cyber attacks.”

The competition drew 32 teams from across India, comprising 192 participants representing esteemed institutions such as VIT Andhra Pradesh, IIIT - Design and Manufacturing, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg, IIIT Kalyani, Amrita School of Arts and Science, Kochi, IIT Chennai, Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Delhi, Maharaja Surajmal Institute, Delhi, NIT Trichy, and more.

The Smart India Hackathon represents a nationwide initiative aimed at providing students with a platform to address the real-life issues that impact our daily lives. It seeks to instill a culture of product innovation and a problem-solving mindset among students.
