- InterContinental Hotel Group plans to add 39 new hotels in India
InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), the Global hospitality chain, is planning to add 39 new properties in India in the next three years. It is eyeing at having 150 hotels in the country.
Currently, the group has 39 hotels operational with 7,000 rooms and 39 in the pipeline that are expected to be operational in the next 12-24 months.
Asia Vivek Bhalla, Regional Vice President South West, IHG, said, "In terms of our expansion plan we have 39 hotels in the pipeline with around 6,200 rooms which should be operational in 12-24 months. Overall, in the next two to three years we should have 150 hotels."
The company is operating four brands in India, including Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
"Our primary focus will be on Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express because they are the brands that cater to these huge domestic travellers. We will continue to focus on other brands as well," Bhalla further added.
The hotel group franchises, leases, manages or owns over 5,600 hotels and approximately 837,000 guest rooms in 100+ countries, with almost 1,900 hotels in its development pipeline.
