Jaipan to foray into franchising

Jaipan Industries Limited, a Mumbai based home appliances manufacturer is planning to foray into the retail industry by opening 200 stores across India by the end of 2010. These stores will be partly franchised and partly company-owned.

J.N.Agarwal, MD, Jaipan Industries Ltd, said, “We plan to enter into retail lighting industry by opening 200 stores, starting next month, which would run partly through franchise operations.” He further added that these outlets will be opened across major cities in India.

The company has plans to invest Rs 10 crore in the first phase of retail expansion but will increase the investment size in later stages. And it will raise more capital by issuing the franchise rights to the prospective entrepreneurs.

Jaipan Industries Limited is involved in manufacturing and marketing of various home appliances and non stick cookware under the brand name of Jaipan. It is also specialised in the manufacturing of consumer durable products.
