Modular kitchens brand Johnson Kitchens plans to open 25 new retail stores by the end of the fiscal year. The company, which is a part of H&R Johnson India currently has 39 stores and is expanding further via franchising.
A company official confirmed the expansion via franchising and informed that half of the stores will open in South India, with a majority of them in Tamil Nadu. Johnson Kitchen is aiming at investing Rs 3 crore and over 28,000 sq. ft retail space for its expansion in south. The total market for modular kitchen in India is around Rs 2,000 crore; the organised sector contributes only 20 per cent. Johnson wants to capture a good share in the coming years, via a strong franchise system.
