JSW to strengthen its franchise network

JSW Steel Ltd, India’s third largest steel manufacturer is planning to take the count of its JSW Shoppe outlets to 340 by 2011. The number of JSW Shoppe outlets, which work on the franchise model, went up to 174 in the last fiscal; also 16 per cent of the total domestic sales came from these outlets. The company is expecting a growth of 30 per cent after launching more franchised outlets.

Besides this, the company has bought coking coal mines in the West Virginia region of US for $100 million. The region has total reserves of 123 million tonne. One of the mines in the region is operational and the company is planning to ship one million tonne of coking coal from this mine in the first year. The others are expected to be ready in the next 24 months.

With capacity of 7.8MT, JSW Steel Ltd is the most modern, eco-friendly steel plant with latest technologies for both upstream and downstream processes.
