- Lohum Earns DSIR Certification for Excellence in Sustainable Critical Mineral R&D
Lohum, a leading producer and processor of sustainable key minerals, has received the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) Certification. The award recognises the company's important contributions to research and development in sustainable essential mineral production and integrated battery lifecycle management.
As part of its dedication to innovation, Lohum invests 5% of its annual revenue and 10% of its personnel in R&D. The company's 40,000-square-foot Innovation Centre, staffed by more than 100 scientists, is dedicated to developing market-ready solutions to enable a circular economy for critical minerals.
The DSIR Certification, awarded under Notification No. 51/96-Customs on July 23, 1996, and later amendments, verifies Lohum's commitment to strict scientific rigour and innovation criteria in its in-house R&D efforts. This acknowledgement also provides Lohum with access to additional resources, such as tax and customs duty exemptions for R&D spending.
Dr. Chidambaram Mandan, Head of R&D and Quality Control at Lohum, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are pleased to receive this recognition from DSIR. This certification will support our ongoing efforts to enhance our R&D capabilities and contribute to the global energy transition.”
This certification recognises Lohum's significant contribution in propelling India's rise as an innovation powerhouse, strengthening its position in the global sustainable energy sector.
