Section 32 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 provides for such a reservation, the GR said.

The Maharashtra government has directed all government-run as well as aided educational institutes in the state to reserve five per cent of the seats for students with disabilities.

The quota will come into effect from this academic year (2018-19), said a Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department.

Section 32 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 provides for such a reservation, the GR said.

Apart from the quota, disabled students will also get a relaxation of five years in the upper age limit for admission to institutions of higher education, the GR said.
