- "Make the Teachers More Technology Driven", Amreesh Chandra
In an exclusive interview with the Group President, GEMS EDUCATION, Mr. Amreesh chandra, where we were enlightened with the insights of his Institution, concerning Teacher Training and Curriculum.
Improvising the skills amongst the teachers is a big question today. In your opinion, what are the skills that hold importance when it comes to Teacher Training or making teachers more adaptive to the Technology that has set a benchmark in the Education sphere?
The teachers that are trained through teacher training colleges may have the qualification to become a teacher but there is a dire need for soft skills to be in a classroom environment and also they should be technology driven for we get to witness a lot of teachers in government colleges who are not adaptive to technology. We really need to build these two things which are not coming out in the open.
Talking about GEMS Education in particular, are there any alterations that you are looking forward to enhance the Education landscape for the students?
There are a lot many things that we are focusing on. We have a very large Research and Development cell in Dubai office that studies right from the State board in India to a National board. Also, we offer Arabic curriculum and French curriculum in Dubai and we have a team that develops the best package that we can do.
Coming to the Education core team in India, wherein they marinate and find out the requirements in India. So, it’s not just creating a lesson plan. We teach a way of Teaching. It is there we define is the delivery of Education where our Research and Development enhances teaching in India.
Any plans of GEMS Education in revising the curriculum at present or in the future?
Well, we are continuously doing that. As I had already mentioned, we are looking into world curriculum and take the best practices across. In GEMS, when we talk about curriculum we do not mean just the textbooks alone. In fact we take that and make it into various modules of delivery. For us, it is a continuous project to revise the curriculum and make it better than before.
