- Manipal Health Enterprises in talks to buy stake in Medanta
Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd is in talks to acquire a stake in Gurugram-based super-specialty hospital Medanta—The Medicity.
The proposed transaction will enable The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, to exit Global Health Pvt Ltd, operating Medanta. Carlyle owns a minority stake in Medanta.
If the acquisition goes through, Singapore state investment firm Temasek Holdings, which also holds a stake of about 18% in Manipal Health, will be able to consolidate its shareholding.
The acquisition of Medanta will help Manipal to boost its revenue and improve profitability. It would also help it to gain a toehold in the northern region.
