- Marriott to have 70 hotels in India by 2018
The US-headquartered Marriott International will add another 49 hotels by 2018 to take its existing India count to 70. At present, the company has 25 operating hotels under various brands and another 49 are in the pipeline. At present, there are 11 properties under the Courtyard by Marriott brand and another 19 are under construction.
The company currently runs seven brands here representing luxury to upper mid-scale category. It presently operates brands like JW Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Fairfield by Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments, Renaissance Hotels and The Ritz Carlton.
Bagged with locational advantage-Courtyard by Marriott and Fairfield-can expand anywhere, especially in tier-II and III cities. Marriott International has about 6,500 workforce in India. It will be hiring 10,000 more for all levels by 2018.
The company has more than 4,000 properties (managed and franchised properties) over 20 brands around the world.
