Maruti Suzuki India showcased its first Electric Vehicle, which is a concept Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) named ‘eVX’ at the Auto Expo 2023. This Concept SUV is a mid-size electric vehicle developed by Suzuki India. It has a 60kWh battery pack and 550 km of driving range on single charge. This is the first time when Maruti Suzuki India has showcased any electric vehicle in the country.
Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President, Suzuki Motor, while unveiling the vehicle said, “I am delighted to unveil the Concept eVX, our first global strategic EV. We plan to bring it to market by 2025. At the Suzuki Group, addressing global warming is a priority. We are promoting a range of global measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from our business.”
He added that the company is planning to invest INR 10,000 Cr. for the production of Battery Electric Vehicles and their batteries.
Except its eVX, the company is showcasing a huge array of eco-friendly products. This range includes WagonR Flex Fuel prototype, Brezza S-CNG and Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid.
Talking about the vehicles only, the comapny is showcasing 16 vehicles at the expo, including the Grand Vitara, XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, WagonR Flex Fuel, Baleno, and Swift, among others.
Auto Expo, originally scheduled to be organised in 2022, was postponed due to COVID-19. Some major participant in the show are Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda and Volkswagen. Nissan along with luxury car makers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are not participating in this edition.
