- Max Hypermarket to strengthen its presence
Max Hypermarket, a franchisee of Spar superstores is planning to open 25 hypermarkets across India by 2012, confirmed Viney Singh, MD, Max Hypermarket. The company is expecting revenues to rise proportionately from the current Rs 150 crore to Rs 1,250 crore.
The company presently operates three large-format stores, two in Bengaluru and one in Hyderabad. It is now all set to open a 90,000 sq. ft flagship store in Bengaluru next week. Max Hypermarket has signed a licence agreement with Netherlands-based Spar International in 2007 for opening Spar branded hypermarkets and supermarkets across India.
Max Hypermarket has plans of opening six to seven stores each year through 2012. These stores will have an average size of 50, 000 sq. ft and will be opened in tier-II cities in south India, such as Mangalore, Mysore, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Coimbatore. However, the company is also aiming at opening few stores in metros like Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and New Delhi.
