- Mothercare denies rumours on parting ways with Shoppers Stop
According to recently published reports, it was revealed that Mothercare, the British Retailer which specializes in products for kids and expectant mothers, may soon part ways by exiting its franchise agreement with India`s K Raheja promoted Shoppers Stop. Denying the rumours Mothercare`s Spokesperson said, “Mothercare is committed to its ongoing expansion into the India Market. We have opened 22 stores in affiliation with Shopper`s Stop which have been well accepted. Shopper`s Stop remains a Mothercare franchisee in India and continues to be a valuable partner in Mothercare`s ongoing Indian strategy.” It was also said that UK`s retailer is also in talks with Tata`s trent for restrategising its business in India. In an email reply Spokesperson at Mothercare said, “We do not comment on market rumour or speculation at any time.” Internationally, Mothercare operates across more than 600 stores in 40 countries, primarily in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia like Dubai, and Singapore, Hong Kong and China.
