Motul India, a leading automotive lubricant maker, has partnered with D2C EV brand Zypp Electric to launch a nationwide training program focused on electric two-wheeler (e-2W) repair and maintenance. The initiative aims to certify over 10,000 mechanics across India as EV repair specialists.
Feedback from participants and dealer partners indicated significant value, with mechanics reporting up to a 50% improvement in their EV repair knowledge after the training.
Nagendra Pai, CEO of Motul India and South Asia, stated, "This initiative is part of Motul's broader ambitions in the mobility sector, including EV, retrofitting to EV and hydrogen, thermal management, and immersed battery technology. It is not just about skill enhancement but also about creating new income and growth opportunities for mechanics."
Zypp Electric's Co-Founder and CEO, Akash Gupta, emphasized, "India is a rapidly growing market, and its booming e-commerce demands robust logistics expertise. The EV ecosystem requires significant grassroots interventions, and workforce training is a crucial part of that. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to build a sustainable EV last-mile delivery ecosystem."
The Motul-Zypp collaboration is a milestone in bridging the skills gap in India’s evolving automotive landscape. By training mechanics in both ICE and EV technologies, this initiative ensures they remain competitive and adaptable to the rapidly changing vehicle ecosystem.
