- One Charger, A Better Solution for All EVs - Awadhesh Kumar Jha
In today's world, especially in the car segment, the most critical aspect of public charging is how quickly it can be done. As customers, we expect our vehicles to charge rapidly, and for this, the charger’s ability to support high-capacity charging becomes crucial. If a vehicle supports high-capacity charging, modern technology can ensure faster charging.
Distributed Chargers: A Revolutionary Technology
Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Executive Director of GLIDA, highlighted the importance of fast charging and shared how GLIDA has introduced 200 kW chargers. The standout feature of distributed chargers is their ability to offer 30 kW, 50 kW, and 200 kW charging using the same connector. This allows all types of vehicles to charge efficiently at a single station.
Previously, charging systems were limited, with one charger only suited to a specific type of vehicle. High-capacity vehicles faced restrictions. However, distributed chargers resolve this issue and represent the future of EV charging systems.
Focus on DC Fast Charging
Our primary focus is on DC fast charging, which provides rapid and efficient solutions for customers. DC chargers significantly reduce charging time, making the process quicker and more convenient.
Expansion Plans
Currently, GLIDA operates 850 charging points across 17 states, 32 cities, and 15 highways. Our target for the next year is to expand to: 25 states, Around 52 cities,25 highways. We aim to establish 10,000 charging points, with 80% of them being DC chargers. This will provide customers with fast, convenient, and affordable charging solutions.
Benefits for Customers
• Faster charging times
• A single station catering to multiple types of vehicles
• A comprehensive network, simplifying long-distance travel
By focusing on DC fast charging and expanding the network, this strategy addresses major barriers to EV adoption. It sets the foundation for a robust and sustainable EV charging ecosystem.
Conclusion
This new phase of EV charging infrastructure aims to enhance customer experience while encouraging the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. With distributed charging technology and DC fast charging at its core, this strategy saves time and simplifies long-distance travel.
Our goal is to make fast, convenient, and versatile charging solutions accessible in the near future. With rapid expansion and the use of advanced technology, this initiative will lay the groundwork for the future of EV transportation in India.
