The University College of Education of Osmania University will set up a School of Education, where over 5,000 in-service teachers and educators will be trained over the next two years. The school is being set under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
The school will be having two centres, including Centre for pre-service Teachers and Professional Development of Teacher Educators and Centre for Curriculum and Educational Development. The school is expected to bring changes in pedagogy and research through the introduction of contemporary and intensive training programs.
Prof T Mrunalini, Dean, faculty of education at Osmania University, said, "The School of Education will be on par with those in Central universities where we will be launching certificate courses, exchange programmes to train teacher educators. We will also be extending research in the education sector."
Prof S Ramchandram, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, stated, "We will be drawing experiences and best practices from other states as well as institutions abroad to create short-term academic, research and training programmes for school teachers from Telangana. There is a dire need to improve the quality of education in the State."
