- OxfordCaps launches premium student residences to mark the India entry
A top market disruptor in the Student Housing Segment, OxfordCaps, announced its foray into the Indian market offering state-of-the-art Student Housing facilities in Delhi NCR today. Headquartered in Singapore, OxfordCaps already offers premium student housing facilities for top universities in Asia including National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, and INSEAD Business School.
Every year more than 36mn students relocate to a different city for higher education in the Indian subcontinent and on-campus student housing caters to a meager 20 percent of the demand. Students have limited options and are forced to navigate a fragmented and unorganized student housing marketplace. OxfordCaps aims to address this challenge by providing affordable and reliable student housing in the country.
INSEAD-graduate Annu Talreja formerly with E&Y India and IIM-alumni Priyanka Gera formerly with KPMG India, came together to set up OxfordCaps in 2017. Leveraging more than 20 years of combined experience in the real estate & hospitality industry, the two co-founders have designed a customized living-experience catered to the specific needs of the Asia-Pacific student community. Delivering a solution that addresses a growing market need, OxfordCaps has successfully expanded capacity to over 1,000 beds across two countries in less than a year.
"Our first two properties in India are located at the doorstep of two of the largest institutional areas in Delhi NCR - Delhi University North Campus and Greater Noida. Both our properties have a unique expression - OxfordCapsTerraces@Roshnara Gardens is an exclusive 55-bed property and offers the real North Campus experience with interactive courtyards, open terraces, and jam rooms. With the recent Supreme Court directives, our focus has been to not only offer a unique but a safe and secure living experience with a fully licensed property and limited risk of mid-term evictions," said founder & CEO, OxfordCaps, Annu Talreja.
The company's online platform enables students to search for and book accommodation units, sign accommodation agreements, connect with their potential hommies, make payments and place service requests. OxfordCaps' student accommodation facilities in India are fully-furnished and fully-managed facilities, with ready-to-move-in rooms, access to student and youth-friendly shared amenities including gymnasiums, cafeterias, and reading rooms, in CCTV and biometric access-controlled safe environments.
"Our India expansion builds further on our design-first approach and efficiency-first operational expertise in Singapore. By combining global best practices with local needs, we have designed a product that students love," says Priyanka Gera COO, OxfordCaps.
OxfordCaps is also in conversation with several real estate companies across Asia to build custom-design greenfield Student Housing facilities.
