OYO, the hotel leasing chain and franchise, has posted over double growth in bookings helped by the peak travel season in summer. The growth has been resulted by an increase in travellers who plan their holidays in advance, as compared to the booking period of Jan- Mar in 2018.
Goa, Delhi and Bengaluru were the most booked destinations on OYO’s platform with Goa getting maximum traction from Bengaluru and Pune. From off-beat destinations, Coorg has been the most preferred destination, leaving behind Chail, Almora, Alwar, Chikmagalur, and Yercaud.
Among international destinations, Nepal saw a massive demand from travellers with more than 200% increase in the bookings made for the Himalayan country, compared to the last year.
Recently, the hospitality chain has acquired the Amsterdam-based @Leisure group, expanding its European presence. The move is part of the company’s plan to achieve its vision of “global real estate brand while maintaining leadership in the hospitality industry”.
OYO is spread across various countries like the UK, US, India, China, Malaysia, Nepal, the UK, UAE, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines. Recently, the company has also expanded its footprint in Japan.
