OYO Hotels & Homes, the Softbank-backed hospitality chain, has entered into a strategic partnership with China’s largest online travel aggregator, Ctrip. The partnership is signed between Ctrip and OYO Jiudian, the Chinese arm of OYO.
With this partnership, Ctrip will leverage Oyo's 'volume of low-cost assets' while OYO will benefit from Ctrip’s distribution network and platform ecosystem.
Sam Shih, COO, OYO China, said, "The partnership with Ctrip gives OYO China an opportunity to extend its offerings to millions of discerning Chinese travellers looking for standardised, quality offerings."
"As China’s second-largest hotel chain, we are determined to soldier on in our mission of creating quality living spaces and the exceptional reach that Ctrip enjoys as China’s largest OTA will steer us closer to travellers who can choose from OYO’s 10,000 hotels in the country located across 320 cities. We look forward to working together and transforming China’s hospitality industry," he added.
Maninder Gulati, Global Chief Strategy Officer at OYO, stated, "With Ctrip being the largest OTA in the country, with over 300 million registered members, Oyo is aiming to build a multi-dimensional full-service value chain covering every aspect of travel."
"This partnership will add value to China’s hospitality landscape by empowering both the demand and supply side. This will also boost existing consumption in the industry, enhance the size of the consumption opportunity in the market and upgrade the consumption patterns of China’s hospitality industry as well," he further said.
