Acknowledging the need for healthcare professionals has led to the emergence of paramedical education as a lucrative career opportunity. Recognizing the need for skilled healthcare professionals has created a unique franchise opportunity for paramedical e

Paramedic professional services are required during emergency hours or trauma. The various departments managed by paramedic professionals may include ambulance services, or emergency response vehicles. A paramedic generally provides services out of the hospitals but sometimes he may provide diagnostic services, or first hand treatment in case of small injuries. The increasing need and consciousness among Indian to opt for healthcare services only from well established multi specialty hospitals and emergence of large scale hospitals offering best faculty and facilities has led to the increased demand for healthcare professionals. Realising the growing need for such healthcare professionals some organised educational institutes have started offering professional courses to provide specialised training. Considering the marvelous response to the courses these organised players opted for franchise route to make the courses available across all regions.

Need of paramedical centres

There is not much difference between medical and paramedical studies as both are related to treatments. However as it is known medical education is needed to become a medical practitioner, a doctor, a physician etc. On the other hand paramedical studies are needed to train people to assist medical professionals and to give emergency medical treatment, which is essential in and outside hospitals and other health care centres. Both are imperative in the wide area of medical treatments and are essential for hospitals. Therefore proper coaching for capable students to make them crack the entrance exams for these difficult but beneficial fields is a must.

Paramedical studies are of paramount importance in the health care centres and hospitals. As shared earlier paramedics are needed for giving emergency treatments and carry out further researches as well. According to a McKinsey-NASSCOM study, the paramedical profession is projected to grow to USD 225 Billion by 2020, employing 10 million directly and 20 million people indirectly. In this regard Vinod Bachheti, Chairman, Delhi Paramedical and Management Institute (DPMI) said: “With India poised to benefit the most from this scenario due to the demographic dividend of young, surplus manpower, the need for trained professionals is paramount. Moreover the employability of college graduates is low, with major gaps in soft skills and technical skills. Therefore an investment in Paramedical training therefore pays rich dividends, as the training industry is poised for a boom, thus being the right opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in innovative business models.”

Experimenting with franchising in paramedical training

Paramedical training is still in its nascent stages as many people are still unaware of its benefits. However, with the entrance of Delhi Paramedical and Management Institute (DPMI) in the franchise domain, this field has started its success journey. The first DPMI college was launched in 1996, however the franchise route has been taken recently in 2012. Bachheti shares: “In 2012, the word, franchising had entered our dictionary and we found it to be a good fit with our model. Through this model we could expand and reach a wider audience with our limited resources. A decade after DPMI started with its Paramedical training services and the kind of success it had with the students associated, it was difficult to accommodate and serve aspiring students from different parts of the country at our Delhi centre. The demand from students and limited resources at hand led us to extend franchise of DPMI brand in hands of some committed entrepreneurs and educationists.”

Look at the future

The future can be predicted to be bright for people investing in paramedics due to the ever increasing need for well trained professionals from this field. As shared by Bachheti: “We plan to expand from more than five centres at present to 100 centres in next five years.”

Such huge expansion can be only planned if need has been felt and the responses are tremendous. Thus Paramedic is gaining popularity as a great career option along with offering rewarding franchise opportunity to aspirants.
