- Patanjali plans to set its foot in north-east India
Patanjali Ayurved, an ayurvedic venture being promoted by Yoga guru Ramdev is heard to invest around 1,300 crore INR in Assam by the end of this fiscal year.
According to reports published in ET, Patanjali is going to hire around 5000 people for this investment project in Assam.
As per the recent update, Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam, laid the foundation stone of the Patanjali Herbal and Mega Food Park at Balipara in Sonitpur district of Assam.
Supporting the reports, Ramdev is heard saying that the unit will directly give employment to 5000 people and is going to benefit around one lakh farmers.
He also said that the profit, which the Food Park will earn, will be used in developing skill development centers and in setting up schools in each and every district of Assam.
He assured that the facility will be ready by February 2017, which aims to produce an annual production of 20,000 crore INR approximately. The unit is going to manufacture a wide range of products like cosmetics, kitchen essentials and nutritional foods along with other products.
Ramdev has asked the local farmers to grow herbal and medicinal plants, which will be used by the unit and also will benefit the farmers. He also spoke about creating a market for green tea, which will be supplied by the small tea growers of Assam to keep the authenticity and flavor of the place.
