Philips Lighting has hailed Indian government’s recent announcement of declaring names of 98 cities, which will be made smart cities, and vowed to remain committed to making the ‘Smart Cities’ initiative a big success.
Harshavardhan Chitale, CEO, Philips Lighting, South Asia, says, “The Indian Government’s recent announcement of calling out the 98 cities which will be developed as smart cities is extremely positive and commendable. We at Philips are committed to making the Smart Cities initiative a great success story which was a key discussion point during our meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday. We are working with the government to make this a great success story. We are working towards providing adaptive, interoperable lighting solutions to these smart cities where lighting goes beyond illumination and systems and resources are interconnected to become intelligent data gathering point.”
Philips works closely with the government to make this initiative a reality. Also, Eric Rondolat, Executive Vice President & CEO, Philips Lighting and member of the Executive Committee at Royal Philips, Eric who was in India, met the PM along with Harsh and smart cities was one of the key points of their discussion.
