Under this scheme, more than 10 crore families will be provided health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh each, every year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious healthcare scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana' will be launched in Jharkhand.

Under this scheme, more than 10 crore families will be provided health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh each, every year. It aims to offer health insurance to 10.74 crore poor families.

Modi will roll out the scheme on September 23. But, it will become operational from September 25 on the birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyay, Co-Founder of Jan Sangh. 

The ambitious healthcare scheme will be joined by as many as 27 states and union territories.

Over 15,000 hospitals, both public and private, across India have expressed their interest to be empanelled for the scheme.
