The Punjab cabinet has approved regularisation of 8,886 school teachers, who were recruited under the central education programmes, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
The cabinet, under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, regularises 7,356 teachers recruited under the SSA and 1,194 teachers under the RMSA. Apart from this, the state cabinet also regularized 220 teachers for model schools and 116 for Adarsh schools.
The cabinet has decided to initially keep these teachers on probation for three years, following which their services will be regularised, strictly as per rules. During the probation, they will be paid Rs 10,300 per month. While after successful completion of probation period, the government would pay them Rs 15,000.
