- PVR signs deal with Cinionic for installing 150 screens with Barco cinema projectors
PVR, the leading Indian cinema exhibition company, has signed a long-term deal with Cinionic. Cinionic is a joint venture of global cinema technology leaders Barco, Appotronics, China Film Co (CFG) and CITICPE.
As part of the agreement, PVR will install 150 of its screens, both new and existing, with Barco's 2K, 4K and Laser projection within 12 to 18 months.
Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Cinemas, said, "Our industry is facing stiffer competition, so we need to offer unique entertainment experiences that are larger than life. The Barco cinema projectors deliver the excellent performance and high brightness necessary to power these top-notch movie showings at a very attractive TCO (total cost of ownership)."
Wim Buyens, CEO of Cinionic, stated, "India has always been a cinema-centric country, where moviegoers can enjoy an exceptional night out in PVR's premium theatres. We are thrilled to forge this strategic partnership with PVR and together deliver the best movie experiences to the audience."
