- Real Estate Firm Sobha Collaborates with Metercube to Enter the Furniture Business
Real estate firm, Sobha recently announced its collaboration with Metercube to invade the Indian furniture industry. The collaboration will be looking to offer an array of furniture and home furnishings. Sobha’s first experience center has already been established in Bengaluru that is spread in over 3,000 square feet.
The center features dining tables, chairs, sofa frames, coffee tables, bookshelves, and entertainment cabinets, among other things.
J C Sharma, Managing Director and Vice-Chairman, Sobha says, “We will roll out more Metercubes in a hub-and-spoke model first in Bengaluru, then potentially across other cities and will cater to all kinds of customers and not just those who buy flats from Sobha.”
Sobha’s wood factory for the interior division is spread over 325,000 sq ft which employs over 1,000 people. The factory produces wardrobes, doors, and interior fit outs. In fact, this is where most of the Metercube’s products will be made to start with. Currently, Socha is selling around 3,000 flats a year with an average price of Rs 1 crore.
