Belagavi-based start-up RIVOT Motors has launched electric two-wheeler vehicles with a range of up to 280 km on a single charge. All models are upgradable to a charging capacity of running the engine to 300 km, the company said.
The three variants of the scooters were unveiled at the Karnataka Trade Promotion organisation hall in Whitefield in Bengaluru. Ajit Patil, founder said the RIVOT NX100 was designed to revolutionize Indian transportation in line with the spirit of Make in India.
“With many cutting-edge features, RIVOT sets a new standard for electric vehicles in India. It is entirely manufactured in Belagavi. The designs of scooter variants are modular and upgradable. It is the world’s first electric vehicle offering an upgradeable range. It starts with a 100 km model and buyers can expand it to 300 km as their needs evolve. Buyers can pay the difference and get an update on their vehicle,” Patil said.
RIVOT’s motor inverter technology delivers exceptional energy efficiency with a range of 55-60 km per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The body is compact with a storage space of over 45 litres. The batteries are climate resistant and the vehicle has safety features like face and number lock and finger print detection. He said a test ride from Belagavi to Bengaluru had shown that the RIVOT NX100 had clocked 545 km on a single charge, apart from the initial charge up.
“The vehicle’s specialized LiMFP battery chemistry ensures optimal performance in India’s varying temperature conditions, the battery chemistry is especially engineered for Indian temperature conditions. They have special variants to serve customers looking for high-power bikes and those looking for off-roading. The unique motor developed by the team by combining IPMSM and SynRM technology gets the best of both worlds, high torque at low and high RPM, unlike IPMSM which only gives at low RPM and SynRM at high RPM. With the RIVOT NX100’s enclosed belt drive, the power train is protected from everything the Indian roads throw at it,” he said.
The scooters have features like a combi brake system, onboard charger and dynamic rider profiling, reverse gear, tubeless tyres with steel rim, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system. They are also equipped with accessories like touch screen with Internet and multi-media navigation, phone lock, ComfortBoot – rugged ready protection cage.
The price of the variants range from INR 89,000 to INR 1,39,000. Soon, RIVOT NX100 will be available in five variants – Classic, Premium, Elite, Sports and Offlander.
