Royal Enfield, an Indian motorcycle manufacturing company and originally a British motorcycle company, opened exclusive dealerships in Bogota and Medellin. It has plans to open two more dealerships this year in Colombia to be followed by stores in London, Paris and Madrid. These outlets will also carry clothing and accessories as part of a plan to project a lifestyle image.
In 2015, the company plans to manufacture 450,000 units. With a view to become the leader in the global mid-sized motorcycling, Royal Enfield will build two new technology centers. The larger one will be at a new 4.5 acre property on Old Mahabalipuram Road in Chennai, and will be operational by Q2 2016; a smaller satellite center is being set up in Leicestershire, UK, and will be operational by the end of 2015. These technology centres will significantly enhance capability to execute Royal Enfield’s long term product strategy.
Recently, in Colombia, Royal Enfield showcased its new gear collection inspired by the motorcycle despatch riders from the Great Wars at company’s exclusives store in Bogota and at Medellin. Royal Enfield is working closely with Corbeta Group to bring a differentiated motorcycling experience to Colombia and is looking at key Colombian cities for expanding its distribution network. In addition, the brand is setting up strong aftermarket network and infrastructure will ensure customers have full service support in the region. The Corbeta group will be expanding the brand’s retail footprint further in the coming months.
Royal Enfield posted sales of 30,240 units in combined domestic wholesale and exports in February 2015, recording a growth of 49 % over same period last year.
