Sagar Ratna, a south Indian chain of restaurants, is planning to foray in the hotel industry by launching its first three-star hotel ‘Ocean Pearl’ in Mangalore. The construction of the hotel is almost completed and it is expected to be open for the public by March 2010, confirmed Sadashiv Bhat, Director, Sagar Ratna.
The hotel has 84 rooms and five banquet halls. Besides, the company is also planning a franchise expansion and is expected to open eight more franchise outlets in the states like Rajasthan and Punjab in this fiscal year.
Recently, the company also announced its plans of venturing into the overseas markets through franchising in the next few years. The overseas expansion would include setting up of around 250 outlets in countries such as Bangkok, Singapore, UAE and Canada.
Currently, Sagar Ratna has 59 outlets and Swagath has nine outlets that are spread across different cities in India. The restaurant chain also owns another restaurant chain by the name of Swagath, which serves non vegetarian food. Presently, the company also supports a Sagar Ratna outlet in Singapore.
