A new addition to the list of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Sahara Pune Warriors has declared the appointment of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh as its Head coach and Dermot Reeve, ex-England all-rounder as assisting coach.
The franchise has looked into the credentials of eight coaches, including two Indians, before finalising the two. The selection was made on the basis of merit, background, achievements and coaching abilities.
Marsh has played 50 test matches and 117 ODIs for Australia between 1985 and 1992. He was the coach of Australian team in 1999 when the country won the World Cup and later during 2001 to 2004, he coached the Zimbabwean cricket team.
