More customers shopped on Amazon.in than ever before, with 79 percent of new customers coming from tier II & III towns

Local Shops on Amazon sellers has clocked a 2x spike and sold over ten products every minute during its month-long Great Indian Festival 2021. It is Amazon’s flagship festive sale which started in the first week of October till the end of the month.
 
The top-performing sellers under the Local Shops on Amazon program include SMILE- BOX, Liteon Bangalore, HomeUPS Chennai (Kitchen- Inverters & Batteries), Peps Industries (Mattress) and E-Sales India (Washing Machine, Refrigerator, AC, TV). The most popular categories from Local Shops on Amazon include Major Appliances, Kitchen, Home Entertainment (TV’s), Furniture, Home, Lawn & Garden, Grocery.

Amazon India’s ‘Local Shops’ is a program that allows physical stores to register on Amazon.in and sell more customers in the local area. 

The company informed that more customers shopped on Amazon.in than ever before, with 79 percent of new customers coming from tier II & III towns like Ernakulam, Guntur, Krishna, Godavari and more. Customers from 99.7 percent pin codes shopped during the month-long celebrations.

Smartphones remain a popular category yet again for this year. More than 10 Lakh customers purchased a smartphone on Amazon.in for the first time. Also, Bharat gets ready for 5G - More than 84 percent of mid-range segment of smartphones bought on Amazon.in were 5G ready.

To cater to the wider consumer base, E-tailers like Amazon have been installing regional languages on their interface. Customers experienced the Great Indian Festival in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada and the newly launched Bangla and Marathi along with voice shopping in Hindi and English.

The company said that it received an overwhelming response from businesses in Tier II and Tier III markets with 55 percent of orders coming from these markets. More than 46 percent increase in new MSMEs who created a business account with Amazon Business during the Great Indian Festival as compared to 2020.
