Hand Transplantation restores functions sensation proprioception voluntary motor control making the person whole and complete.
Hand transplants have been successfully done across the world, and in a few centers in India. However, there is no special unit in Karnataka so far.

Dr. Anand said, “We are proud to be the first hospital in Karnataka to be able to perform cadaveric hand transplant. These are successful in the world but we want to do this at SPARSH as well. Now, with this, we will be giving a new lease of life to people who struggle every day without the support of their limbs. Anyone, who has lost both the limbs can get the benefit of the hand transplant program and an interested individual can contact SPARSH Hospitals.”
