Education without values is as useful as it may seem, can create a clear and a more devil- Piyush Sehgal

Education should teach children that how they do things is more important to their well-being than what they do. It is time we learned that facts, and even skill, by themselves cannot produce a healthy society. Cooperation, positive thinking, kindness and other eternal values are essential to a truly productive life and to the attainment of the universal goal of all life: happiness.

In a n interview with the ex Interim CEO and Ex Social Entrepreneur, Mr. Piyush Sehgal, where he talked about Imbibing Spiritual Education in everyday life.

What led you begin your social Entrepreneurial journey? What really inspired you to begin with this initiative?

I have been searching for happiness in variety of places and God was kind enough to give me some of the best Education that exists in this world along with a lot of opportunities in the corporate area. I have worked with many countries but I didn’t find the real happiness that we keep talking about. I started doing a lot of humanitarian work but the situation was very much similar. So, finally, I had this opportunity to work in a juvenile home, a place where accused children of certain crimes are put. While working there, I tried to us e spirituality to change their habits. Much to my surprise, these kids who have done crime, after months of spiritual intervention and a bit of academic interventions, they became not just good citizens but leaders. So, these started their own schools, their entrepreneurial ventures. So, once I saw spirituality helping everyone and I have been connected with ISKON and ISKON is one of the biggest platforms of Education with several schools across the world. I am connected with ISKON, and it started its first school in 1975 in Vrindavan, with a very unique vision of creating a school for selfless servants.

ISKON is a society that tries to spread spirituality in a scientific manner. So, for us, spirituality is not something theoretical or orthodox but its about learning the signs of Vedas which have been understood by people like Einstein and connect them in their everyday lives. So, when I got more spiritual, I also got connected with one of the projects of ISKON, the Bhakti Vidhanta Guruka International School, where they were trying to build a school for selfless leaders. And that is something I had always dreamt of.

How do you connect spirituality with Education?

Firstly, spirituality is education itself. Education itself is a small subject of spiritual. One who gets spiritually educated is highly educated. A person who is not spiritually educated will never be educated no matter how much education one tries to inculcate.

We don’t see spirituality and the modern education separately. Infact, we see them as a good intermingling subject. What we try to give them is Foundation Spiritual education within that environment. They study scriptures.
