In an interview, Kiran Kumar, Promoter, BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools shares the future plans of his company

Ramanjit Kaur (RK): Shed some light on the inception of BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools in India?

Kiran Kumar (KK): We started BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools in the year 2009. The founding team involved itself in the Research and Developmental work of the same for about a year before BLOSSOMS started.

RK: What is BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools all about? What kind of services it offers?

KK: It is all about offering the best to the next-Gen children. BLOSSOMS offer the best through its teachers by promoting original thinking and creative among the teachers and thus keeping the classroom quality intact. BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools is a chain of professionally run schools and offers best quality teaching with best facilities for its students. It also works out utmost reasonable investment proposal for those who want to start their own play school.

RK: What inspired BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools to take the franchise route to expand its presence in India?

KK: We have been successful in bringing the best standards into pre-school segment much to the growing requirements of the young parents. Our curriculum has been widely appreciated. In spite of the presence of big brands, there is a huge demand of schools with focus on quality and standards in all quarters and not just the curriculum. We at BLOSSOMS clearly focus on developing child centric schools with prescribed standards of safety, hygiene, teaching and professional management standards.

RK: What practices and initiatives have you introduced in BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools?

KK: Innovative and thinking group of teachers to promote originality of concept. Teachers are trained not just to make the students fill the activity sheets, but to help students learn by using innovative methods of teaching any concept. A teacher is encouraged to think and teach concepts as required by a class of students. We offer hands-on learning and highly interactive environment to our students.

RK: What will be the eligibility criteria for selecting the franchisees of your company?

KK: We are looking at franchisees that must be graduates at least and should have passion towards contributing the best to the society. Besides this, the required area is1500- 2000 sq.ft or an independent house with at least four spacious bed rooms would be an ideal choice. The investment would range from four to eight lakh rupees depending on the area of operation and the kind of set-up. BLOSSSOMS invites franchisee applications from likeminded associates.

RK: How many franchised centres do you presently have in India and abroad? What are your target locations to expand BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL Play Schools in India?

KK: Currently, we are operating through five play schools and four to six play schools are already in the pipe line. Now, we are targeting to set up our branches across India.

RK: What kind of training and support will a franchisee gets after partnering with your company?

KK: BLOSSOMS INTERNATIONAL provides three levels training to its franchisees which include management training, academic in-charge training and teacher training.

Apart from this, we provide constant support in all the aspects of the school operations and management. We also provide advice to the management in cases where the management needs to take decisions on crucial aspects.

RK: What are the future plans of the company in terms of expansion through franchising?

KK: We plan to expand into all the metros and are aggressively targeting the tier II cities to start 20 schools by the academic 2011-12.
