- Sri Lanka, Dhaka to relish Cookie Man’s cookies
Cookie Man, a premium fresh-baked cookie brand, is all set to open three stores in Sri Lanka and one in Dhaka. The parent company, Australian Foods (I) Pvt. Ltd is an Indo-Australian joint venture. The first Cookie Man outlet was launched in Chennai in January 2000.
Anupam Saluja, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Foods (I) Pvt. Ltd, says: “Our confidence in India’s consumption story and our own success has pushed us to expand across the country in a robust manner. We have already ventured into neighboring countries including Bangladesh and Nepal and have plans to open three stores in Sri Lanka and another one in Dhaka.”
“We were earlier expanding at a rate of eight to 10 stores in a year to reach around 70 stores in the past 14 years. But now the pace has increased multifold to add 50-55 stores a year to touch 300 POS in four years. Australian Foods is aiming for a four times growth in turnover in the next four years. The expansion will now move in favour of tier-II and III cities to cover a total of around 45 cities. Besides, we are also stepping into high streets, multiplexes and airports,” he adds.
The cookie brand is already present in all tier-I cities and most of the tier-II cities. The organisation looks forward to cover about 45 cities and has already established footprint in the north-east with stores in cities including Gangtok, Siliguri, Shillong and Durgapur. On the target are cities like Kanpur, Surat, Raipur, Salem, Kochi, Calicut, Chandigarh and Vadodara.
