Spa Ceylon, an international brand of Sri Lankan origin is looking to grow its base in India via franchising. The brand specialises in beauty and wellness services and retail. It plans to add 15-20 stores in India by end of 2016.
Currently Spa Ceylon has four stores in India across Mumbai, Goa and Chennai. Internationally, it has 30 Boutiques and Spas spread across Sri Lanka, India, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Seychelles and Moscow. It has an online presence on leading e-commerce portals like Amazon and Flipkart also.
Sanjeev Mehta, Managing Director, Spa Ceylon India said, “We are targeting cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmadabad, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Cochin among others. Small towns have taken the stature of smaller towns now and so we also wish to tap smaller towns like Surat, Jalandhar and Ludhiana as well. We are seeking potential franchisees with a proven track record in retail business for running or formats which include; Kiosk requiring an area of about 80-120 square feet, Boutique which retails beauty products requiring an area of about 250-400 square feet and Footspa cum Boutique that requires an area of 700-800 square feet.”
Spa industry has shown a rapid boom in India in recent past. A lot of international as well local players have occupied a larger share of the market. Beauty retail is something that still lies nascent.
Sharing a word on the industry, Mehta further said: “Today the industry stands at approximately Rs 25,000 crore and is growing at about 15-20% every year.”
