- States and UTs join the National Workshop to discuss NEP 2020 implementation strategies
Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on Higher and Technical Education in New Delhi. The meeting, which included State and Union Territory (UT) Secretaries, brought together important stakeholders to discuss the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and the Development of the North Eastern Region, was also there, along with Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, and other officials, academicians, and institutional heads.
The event aimed to facilitate a comprehensive exchange of strategies and methodologies to advance NEP 2020 across the nation. Discussions focused on creating a unified platform where stakeholders could align on implementation roadmaps, enhance collaboration, and promote the policy's adoption in state institutions. The workshop also encouraged states to strengthen their higher education systems, fostering an inclusive and globally competitive educational framework across India.
Adopting NEP 2020 has been hailed as a transformative step for state higher education systems, with benefits including economic development from a better-trained workforce, improved investment opportunities, and a stronger innovation environment. The concept, which emphasises research and a multidisciplinary approach, strives to position India's education system at a competitive worldwide level while also recruiting overseas students and promoting global collaborations.
To effectively execute NEP 2020, states must actively participate and cooperate with central government objectives. States can upgrade their education systems while preserving their cultural identities by adopting national programs and integrating local policies with NEP 2020.
14 technical sessions were organised throughout the workshop, covering a variety of essential themes including NEP 2020 Implementation, Technology in Education, Collaboration, Digital Governance, Capacity Building & Leadership, and Higher Education Financing. The expert-led workshops presented in-depth insights and practical ideas to help states achieve the NEP 2020 targets.
