Subway, a US based QSR chain has plans to take its outlet count to 1,000 in next five years. The planned openings will be mostly via franchise route, which will entail an investment of over Rs 300 crore.

The investment of Rs 300 crore required for establishing the planned number of stores would be made by franchisees but the company will invest in providing training and technical expertise to its partners.

Presently, the brand has extensive presence in 50 Indian cities with 263 franchisee-run restaurants across the country. The Connecticut-headquartered Subway is also aiming to grow its footprints aggressively in tier-II and tier-III locations. The planned expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities for another 15,000 people.
