- Suguna Daily Fressh to increase its footprints
Suguna Group, a leading name in poultry segment, is mooting to set up 200 daily fresh stores, Suguna Daily Fressh, in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka this year. The outlets stock fresh chicken in hygienic environment and have the plan to retail ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook chicken. The group will soon include mutton in their offerings. B. Soundararajan, Managing Director, Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd., informs, “We plan to open at least 40 outlets in Kerala before the end of this fiscal, and will open 200 stores across South”. Started in 1984, Suguna Group has so far registered a turnover of Rs.2,018 crore in 2007-08. The company has set up a plant at Udumelpet at an investment of Rs.4 crore. The company has plan to expand in Tamil Nadu and Kerala this financial year and eying for expansion in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore in the next financial year. It has 15 franchised outlets in Tamil Nadu. The investment and area requirement for setting up an outlet are Rs.6 lakh and 200-300 sq.ft. The preferred locations are the areas with high upper-middle class population and adequate parking space. The prospective franchisee should have the experience in retail, and experience in poultry business will be an added advantage, as revealed by a company official. Suguna in return will help the franchisees by supplying products, providing marketing support and ensuring guaranteed minimum revenue in the formative years of the venture. Suguna will also invest in training the franchisees and the store workforce to adhere to its hygiene standards.
